Time for new things

Let’s make them nice

n these unusual days, many of us have more time for ourselves than usual and we can’t help but reflect on the past and look ahead to the rest of the year. Hardly anyone can escape the questions that arise, such as “What has the year brought me?” or “What will come, what will it be like?”

And if you think about all the things you wish for or plan to do differently, you will notice that they all have one thing in common. It’s actually always about focusing on yourself. Regardless of whether exercise and fewer calories should lead to less weight, or whether a daily walk should create more space for relaxation – it’s always about doing something for yourself, creating space for yourself and your needs, and reflecting on what is actually good for you.

And so it’s actually about creating small islands in everyday life – no matter how each individual does it. Islands that provide plenty of space and relaxation. These can be special activities or, on the contrary, moments of doing nothing. It is particularly important to transform your own home into an oasis of warmth and comfort during the cold and dark season outside. Especially when it’s frosty outside, you want to make yourself cozy and comfortable at home – whether after an outdoor sporting activity, a walk in the snow or a cozy afternoon of reading on the sofa. If you feel good inside, you are better equipped for everyday life and find it easier to do things differently.

In other words, it’s exactly what we all want to do at the start of a new year. Doing something different, doing more for ourselves, daring to try something new. Let’s start by making things nice for ourselves. And by doing something good for ourselves, let’s ensure that we start the new year with renewed energy and motivation. Incidentally, you can do it without any resolutions at all – a new year simply offers everyone twelve fresh, unspent months and plenty of time for new things, through no fault of their own.
